IAA Transportation: Continental – from the road to the cloud

Continental will showcase a wide portfolio of commercial vehicle solutions at IAA Transportation 2024 from September 17 to 22 in Hanover (Booth C41, Hall 12). This includes hardware such as high-performance computers (HPC), software, and driver assistance systems, as well as services that enhance safety and compliance. In addition, truck and bus tires as well as air springs will be presented. Also on display: a development vehicle built in collaboration with Aurora, summarizing solutions for the autonomous commercial vehicle of the future.

High-performance Computer for the Commercial Vehicle Cockpit

At IAA Transportation 2024, Continental will present an extensive ecosystem that spans from the road to the cloud and enables the software-defined vehicle (SDV) as well as autonomous driving functions. Among these is a high-performance computer for the commercial vehicle cockpit as well as a cross-domain zone controller that integrates, among other things, the power supply for cockpit and ADAS components.

Additionally, the technology company will introduce its Automotive Edge Framework CAEdge, a cloud-based development environment designed to enable efficient, secure, and rapid development and testing of vehicle software. CAEdge serves as the foundation for several predevelopment projects on which Continental is currently collaborating with various vehicle manufacturers to shape the commercial vehicle architecture of the future.

ContiConnect Lite and Pro

Among the intelligent services presented in Hannover, which use real-time data for more process automation and efficiency, are two new versions of the digital tire management solution ContiConnect: ContiConnect Lite is an exclusively mobile solution that allows customers to quickly and cost-effectively benefit from many advantages of data-based tire monitoring. The tire sensor data is transmitted via Bluetooth. ContiConnect Pro is the comprehensive solution for digital tire management and forecasting services, providing an overview of fleet tire conditions including alerts and data display via web portal and mobile app.

Sustainability in Focus

In the Tough-RuNR air springs, Conti's material experts have replaced synthetic rubber with natural rubber, which has been complemented with high-performance ethylene-propylene-diene rubber (EPDM). In this way, the CO₂ footprint of the rubber compound is reduced by more than 50% according to Conti, with the same product performance.

The latest bus tire from Continental is in the pre-series phase, which not only features very low rolling resistance but also contains a high proportion of renewable, recycled, and mass balance-certified materials and is also EV-compatible.
